A little about me
I have spent the last sixteen years working in higher education. I began my teaching career as as a doctoral student when, beginning in 2001, I had the opportunity to teach four undergraduate courses in Sociology.
Since then, I have taught over 30 courses at 4 institutions: writing courses for high schoolers, first-year seminars for new undergrads, and research methods for graduate students. My interest in academic coaching came from my experience serving as an academic adviser for over 100 students and as the faculty liaison to two athletic teams, both at Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
Having worked at the Writing Centers at three different institutions and in a college library for five years, an important part of my coaching program involves encouraging students to use their campus' academic resources, particularly those associated with writing, research, and quantitative literacy.
I love helping students select courses that allow them to pursue their interests while maintaining a balanced schedule that fosters success both inside and outside the classroom. I work with students to develop time management strategies so that they are not surprised by upcoming assignments. I also talk with students about how to establish strong relationships with their professors by visiting office hours and developing professional email etiquette.
